Build the Green Party by Joining Our Universal Giving Campaign

The Green Party has many supporters, and we thank you all for whatever you can contribute – your time, your energy, your talents, and your financial support. We know you hear about our financial needs a lot, and we want to give all our supporters a chance to put us in a position where we can spend less time and energy asking for money. We also want to take a minute to tell you about some of the good things we've been doing lately, and tell you how we could do more with your help.

We know things are tight and you can't give as much as you'd like to good causes. We don't want you to have to break the bank to support strong Green candidates and campaigns in 2011 and 2012. That's why we are aiming for a culture of universal giving. When everyone gives something – no matter how modest their contribution – no one will have to stretch their budget to support us financially. If everyone reading this message gave $5, $10, or $15 a month, you would hear a lot less from us about needing money. But more about that in a minute.

First, let us tell you about our support for labor advocates in Wisconsin. The Green Party of the United States and several state Green Parties have issued statements of solidarity with labor advocates and workers fighting for benefits and collective bargaining rights in Madison. (Read more here.) The Green Party has long stood for the right to unionize and against corporate practices that decrease workers' rights at work. We continue to stand with many Greens who are on the front lines of this standoff, including Ben Manski, a former Green Party co-chair and 2010 candidate for Wisconsin state legislature.

Can you help us expand our capability to spread the word about Greens making news by joining our universal giving campaign?

Next, let us tell you about GreenStream, the new live-streaming news show organized by Green Party members. We want to give you an opportunity to learn more about the party and interact with us on a weekly basis. GreenStream is free, available online, and features live chat so you can let us know how you want to see your party growing. We have already gone on the air live during events like Election Night and the State of the Union Address, and now we are going on air once a week to stay engaged with our members. Please check out GreenStream and please make a contribution to help us expand our ability to produce new professional-quality video content.

Finally, let us tell you about a few other opportunities to get involved with the Green Party this week. Our Ballot Access Committee is beginning work on winning ballot lines for our state Green Parties for the 2012 election. Please contact office@gp.org if you are interested in working on ballot access issues. Party members are organizing a Latino Caucus so members of this particular group can represent themselves better in the Green National Committee. You can also contact office@gp.org to join or show your support for the Latino Caucus. And we are looking for volunteers to help spread the word about our universal giving campaign.

We are asking for a contribution today and for your help expanding the campaign so that everyone will be able to buy in to the growth of the Green Party, not just a few folks shouldering a big financial burden. We need everyone to participate. Even a few dollars makes a big difference. We are working to raise $1,000 from Greens in each state by April 1st. Help us get there by making a contribution today and spreading the word!
