Campaign for Liberty: Stop the Statists' Deal!

Dear friend of liberty,

The statists’ sweetheart “deal” rammed through the U.S. Senate at 2 a.m. this morning – while they thought absolutely no one was looking – is set to be voted on in the U.S. House at any minute.

That’s why it’s vital you call your Congressman, Rep. David Dreier, at (202) 225-2305 and DEMAND Rep. David Dreier vote no on this outrageous scheme IMMEDIATELY.

While you’re at it, call Speaker Boehner’s office at (202) 225-6205 and tell him to oppose this statist scheme.

Without your action, I’m afraid this radical “deal” will pass.

And here’s a brief description of what’s about to hit you and me . . .

It’s all taxes and virtually zero cuts.

In fact, it’s $41 in taxes for every $1 in cuts that likely will never come!  All in all, it’s over $600 BILLION in new taxes!

After all, according to the politicians, our nation’s $16.4 TRILLION debt has nothing to do with their spending, their irresponsibility, or their recklessness.

It’s your fault, they say.

They just don’t have enough money, because the American people are so greedy, they want to keep the money they’ve rightly earned – instead of giving it to politicians to WASTE.

Of course, they tell you and me taxes are only supposed to go up on the evil “rich!”

The small business owners.  The job creators.

By engaging in class warfare, and convincing “average” folks you don’t have a stake in the fight.

Nothing could be a bigger LIE.  Any sane person understands just who is going to be paying the price for all the politicians’ madness and our skyrocketing debt.

It’s going to be you, me - and our children and grandchildren.

Future generations of Americans will pay the price with lost liberty and lost opportunity.

But the statists know this so-called “deal” to send taxes skyrocketing is a total affirmation of all their spending, all their government growth, all their assaults on our liberties, and all their bailouts, borrowing, and printing money out of thin air.

And should this “deal” pass, they’ll think they have a blank check to continue.

It’s up to you and me to stop them.  It’s up to you and me to fight back.

Time is running out, so please act at once!

John McCain wants you detained

Dear friend of liberty,

In their mad rush to get out of town before the holidays, the statists in Washington, D.C. are launching an all-out assault to rip as much liberty away from you and me as possible.

With the NDAA expected to be voted on in both houses of Congress TODAY, it's absolutely vital you contact your U.S. Representative and Senators IMMEDIATELY.

I've listed their names and phone numbers below for your convenience.

So please call and demand they vote against the NDAA.

Please note, there's not much time, so it's absolutely critical you act at once.

As you may remember, just a few weeks ago, an amendment was added to the NDAA to curtail the blatantly unconstitutional indefinite detention provision.

Of course, the statists said the amendment was "no big deal," and the new provisions didn't limit their power to throw American citizens in jail forever and throw away the key.

But their actions tell a different story.

The McCain-led Conference Committee just stripped this provision from the NDAA at the last minute.

Their goal is to ensure statists can continue secretly targeting American citizens and throwing them in jail for years or even decades without so much as ever giving them a trial!

Zachary, this is outrageous.

That's why it's so critical you contact your Representative and Senators NOW and DEMAND they vote against the McCain NDAA.

Tell them to vote to STOP the indefinite detention of American citizens and vote against any defense authorization bill that includes this language.

Here are their names and phone numbers:

U.S. Rep. Rep. David Dreier – (202) 225-2305

U.S. Sen. Sen. Barbara Boxer – (202) 224-3553

U.S. Sen. Sen. Dianne Feinstein – (202) 224-3841

If you don't get through on your first try, please keep calling.

I hope those outside Arizona will also make a special call to Senator McCain's office at (202) 224-2235 to remind him of his sworn oath to DEFEND our rights – not strip them away in a blatant grab for power.

But please act now.

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. The John McCain-led Conference Committee stripped the NDAA of the amendment designed to protect American citizens from being indefinitely detained.

Now statists can continue secretly targeting American citizens and throwing them in jail for years or even decades without so much as ever giving them a trial!

With the vote in both houses of Congress expected TODAY, it's critical you contact your Representative and Senators NOW.

I hope those outside Arizona will also make a special call to Senator McCain's office at (202) 224-2235 to remind him of his sworn oath to DEFEND our rights – not strip them away in a blatant grab for power.

And if you could chip in $10 or even $25 to help C4L in the crucial fight to defend our civil liberties, please do so right away.

C4L: Date for Audit the Fed vote revealed!

I have some very exciting news!

After years of C4L’s hard work to secure a standalone vote on Audit the Fed in the U.S. House, our day has arrived.

C4L has learned that Congressman Ron Paul’s H.R. 459, our Audit the Fed bill, will be voted on next Tuesday, July 24!

But this also means I need the help of each and every C4L member more than ever before.

Audit the Fed will be brought up under a “suspension of the rules.”

So the Fed’s allies won’t be able to offer ANY amendments to try to water down this historic bill!

But...

It also means we need two thirds of the House in order to win - instead of just a simple majority.

So it’s vital you contact Rep. David Dreier right away at (202) 225-2305 and spread the word to your friends, family, and online contacts.

You and I have come so far, and we simply can’t afford to just “assume” our congressmen have gotten the point.

All of our hard work over several years now comes down to this final week.

We need to reinforce our message loud and clear through phone calls, faxes, and if you’re able, personal visits to your representative’s Capitol Hill or district office.

Campaign for Liberty is working with Congressman Paul’s office and the Republican leadership to make sure we have the votes and can set up a simple majority vote should we not succeed under suspension.

But don’t let the two-thirds threshold discourage you.

We CAN win - and this gives us a chance to make an even BIGGER statement heading into the Senate!

Already, almost two thirds of the House has signed on as cosponsors.

We need to urge them to stay the course, and we also need to secure the final votes necessary for victory.

So please call Rep. David Dreier at (202) 225-2305 right away.

Leave a message tonight and then follow up with a call while the staff is in the office tomorrow.

Even if they’re already a cosponsor, they need to be reminded to do everything possible to pass Audit the Fed.

I’m proud we can report this exciting news.

But I’m also counting on you to help us clear this final hurdle in the House and carry our momentum over into the Senate.

Let’s finish this fight and make history in the U.S. House!

Six Questions for Congress Candidate David Miller

David Miller, one of three candidates running to represent the new 32nd Congressional district, answers Patch's questions ahead of the June 5 election.

By Hazel Lodevico-To'o

A native of Glendora, David Miller, 48, is making his second bid for an elected office, this time for the Congressional seat in the 32nd District.

The self-described conservative is running as a Republican in the June 5 Primary Election and said he is undeterred in running in the predominantly Democratic-leaning 32nd Congressional district, which includes Monrovia, Baldwin Park, Covina, West Covina, San Dimas, El Monte, and a southern portion of Glendora.

Miller made an unsuccessful run in 2010 against the entrenched David Dreier for the 26th Congressional District. This time as the state attempts to rebuild during a fiscal crisis, Miller, a real estate developer, said voters are ready for a change in government.

Patch interviewed Miller by email as a part of our series of candidate profiles.

1.     Why are you running for the 32nd Congressional seat?

To restore the Constitutional role of the Federal Government to follow Article 1 Section 8, to defend and protect the Life, Liberty and property of each citizen from being taken and given to the politicians special interest to insure they are re-elected every two years.

2.     You have been very outspoken about returning to the ideals of the Constitution. In what ways has the country strayed from those ideals? In what ways can we return to them?

The ideals of the Countries founding principles are; the role of government is to protect our intrinsic rights from being taken from us by another.  Now the government seems to think it is incumbent upon them to take our rights and give them to others.

The Constitution gives specific areas (Article 1 Section 8) in which we the people have delegated to the Federal Government.  A few areas as an example, where the Federal Government has no authority.

1. Education
2. Healthcare
3. Housing

The only way we will return to the proper role of the Federal Government is if we have a citizenry that knows the constitutional role of the government, and elects people to congress who will follow the Constitution.

3.     Patching up a multi-billion state deficit will not resolved overnight. How do you think the state can begin to close the massive gap?

Whether we are talking about State or Federal budgets, the only answer to repairing deficits is to spend less than you take in.  Federally speaking it seems without a balanced budget amendment the politicians are not capable of making the tough decisions.

4.     Would you have an instrumental role as previous local representatives have had in bringing funds to the Gold Line extension project? Why or why not?

State mass transit is not a Constitutional role of the Federal government according to our Constitution. If as a congressman I am supposed to follow the highest law of the land, then I would hope the citizens' would want me to stay true to my oath of office.  If the Federal government did not take our monies through taxes and federal mandates California could choose to spend their monies on what is important to Californians. It is not the responsibility of one state to be responsible for another states issues.

5.     Schools have long struggled with dwindling state resources. How do you think the state should treat funding for public schools and higher education? What should be done to maintain quality education?

Education is not a Federal issue. Again, according to the Constitution I have no legal authority in the area of education.

6.     What specific issues would be a high priority for you if you were elected to Congress?

Spending and deficits; If we do not get our spending under control our children and grandchildren will be subjected to a life of servant-hood to pay the debts of the prior generation.  I cannot personally sit by and do nothing and allow my children's future to be destroyed by career politicians and special interests.

Stand Up for Your Constitutional Rights!

Dear friend of liberty,

The House will begin debating H.R. 3523, the "Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act" (CISPA) today, and a vote on final passage is expected tomorrow.

We already have to be careful enough about our privacy on the Internet, but CISPA is the next great threat to further expand the government's control over what we say and do online.

Unlike the fight against SOPA and PIPA, however, the cavalry isn't coming to back us up.

This time, Internet giants like Facebook and Twitter are all openly supporting CISPA.

Please take a moment to contact Rep. David Dreier by phone at (202) 225-2305 and by email to urge a "NO" vote on H.R. 3523 and any other similar legislation!

As Matt Hawes wrote to you on Saturday, we've seen the power the liberty movement can have when it speaks out with a unified voice.

And since my last email, I've already heard firsthand about our members sending a high volume of calls to Congress on CISPA.

But we need to turn up the pressure as high as we can get it if we're going to win this fight.

So please, take five minutes of your time to contact Rep. David Dreier by phone at (202) 225-2305 and by email to urge a "NO" vote on H.R. 3523.

Our privacy is on the line.
