RNC Chairman Priebus Statement On Republicans’ 2012 Budget Proposal

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement today on the release of the Republican budget proposal for fiscal year 2012:

“The Republican budget put forth today by my good friend Paul Ryan shows which party is serious about addressing America’s long-term fiscal health. Chairman Ryan’s plan puts our country back on a path to prosperity by making the tough choices that the President continues to punt on.  These common-sense reforms will provide much needed certainty to job creators by cutting spending by $6.2 trillion, reforming our tax code, and protecting health and retirement security plans for both current beneficiaries and future generations. This is in stark contrast to Barack Obama’s unserious budget that adds trillions in new debt and new taxes that are economically unsustainable.

“The truth is, our long-term debt problem is so dire that without immediate corrective action, America’s political and economic future will be in serious jeopardy. While Barack Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress have made the calculation that whistling past our fiscal graveyard is a good political strategy, Republicans have offered real leadership that stops Washington from spending money we don’t have and lays the foundation for long term prosperity and job growth.”
