RNC Chairman Priebus Statement on Cut, Cap and Balance

By Michael Short

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement today following the passage of Cut, Cap and Balance in the House of Representatives:

“Today House Republicans once again stepped up to the plate to deliver the leadership that has been missing from the White House. Cut, Cap and Balance is a commonsense proposal that will stop the spending spree in Washington and help create a better environment for long-term job growth. President Obama’s track record over the last two and a half years demonstrates the need to equip Washington with a fiscal straight jacket.

“President Obama has refused to identify a single serious spending cut that he’d be willing to make and has been quick to talk about tax increases on the very people we are counting on to creating jobs. Even worse, under the only real spending plan the President has produced the national debt will skyrocket to $26.3 trillion in 2021. Between the endless amounts of debt and deficits and the more than 800 days the Democrats have failed to pass a budget, President Obama and his party have been reckless with our country’s economic future. Forty-nine states and every family in America must balance their budgets and live within their means – it’s beyond time Washington does the same.”
