MANCHESTER, New Hampshire – A new national survey conducted by CBS News indicates that other than Mitt Romney, Ron Paul is the only other Republican candidate capable of besting incumbent President Obama during this fall’s General Election. The survey, which contains completed responses from 1,247 registered voters and has a margin of error of 2.78%, was released late Monday by CBS.
The survey continues to illustrate Ron Paul’s secret weapon that sends establishment insiders into fits: his unshakable and growing appeal across party and ideological lines giving him by far the strongest showing amongst disaffected Democrats and Independent voters, which will be key following the convention.
The release by CBS comes following a massive firestorm against the network, which earlier had omitted any mention of Ron Paul during a discussion of the Suffolk University survey of New Hampshire voters. According to the Suffolk University survey, Ron Paul was pulling in 20%, but CBS chose to use a graphic devoid of this fact, and instead only included Romney (43%) followed by Gingrich (9%), Huntsman (7%), and Santorum (6%).
