RNC Chairman Priebus Statement on the ObamaCare Ruling by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement following today’s ruling by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on ObamaCare:

“Today’s ruling by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals declaring the individual mandate unconstitutional is a victory for the American people and the integrity of the U.S. Constitution.  Calling it an 'an unprecedented exercise of congressional power,' the Court reaffirmed the proper limits of Congressional authority.

“Not only is Barack Obama’s health care policy an affront to the rule of law, as today’s Court ruling proves, but it is also a job-killing burden on America’s families and businesses.  And once fully implemented, it will cost taxpayers over $2.6 trillion.

“While the administration and their liberal allies will undoubtedly disagree with the ruling, they should be reminded that this is the first time a judge appointed by a Democrat president has ruled ObamaCare unconstitutional.

“The Republican Party remains committed to replacing ObamaCare with reforms that help, rather than hurt, the economy.  Today’s ruling is a step in the right direction.”
