RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Statement on President Obama’s 2013 Budget

By Johanna Persing
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on President Obama’s 2013 budget:
“With his new budget, President Obama has failed the American people. After three years of record annual deficits over $1 trillion each, Obama will rack up another $1.3 trillion in debt in fiscal year 2012. He has officially broken his promise to cut the deficit in half by the end of his term,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
“In a time of record debt, America should be spending less. Instead, President Obama wants to spend more. The 2012 deficit will exceed the 2011 deficit. Americans are demanding a more efficient, more effective government, but the president only wants to grow it. His new budget includes billions in new stimulus spending.
“Obama’s hypocrisy has taken a devastating toll on our country. The mountain of debt weakens our economy and threatens our children’s future, and last year it caused America’s first ever credit downgrade.
“In 2011, Republicans in the House of Representatives passed a budget and a plan for long-term solvency. In contrast, Senate Democrats have not passed a budget in over 1000 days, and the White House says it has ‘no opinion’ about whether the Senate should pass one.
“Obama’s outrageous fiscal irresponsibility has produced a trust deficit with the American people and reminds us all why we so desperately need a new president.”
